10T Web Design Now Secured With SSL

Did you notice this new badge at the bottom of our website? It’s there because we are happy to announce that 10T Web Design has now activated SSL security on our website.

What is SSL?

SSL, which stands for Secured Socket Layer, provides a two-way encrypted communication tunnel between your web browser and our web servers. With SSL, any information that is exchanged between your computer and ours is protected from any third party trying to ‘listen in’ to our digital conversation.

Why did 10T Web Design start using SSL?

Lots of reasons:

In a digital age, personal information can be difficult to protect. We want to provide you with as much security as possible and prevent any of your information from falling into the wrong hands by way of our website.

We are serious about security. For a website that doesn’t have an online store, SSL might seem like security overkill, but it just shows you how serious we are about your security. We don’t want to divulge even your name to someone that you don’t want to see it.

You know you’re communicating to 10T Web Design. When you are on our website, you can be confident that you are ‘talking’ to 10T Web Design (and only 10T Web Design).

If anyone out there has questions about what it would take to get your website set up to use SSL, feel free to get in touch with me.

How Fast Is Your Website?

Let’s face it: when it comes to having a website, speed is everything. Slow websites get lower rankings from search engines and frustrate your potential customers.

So, just exactly how fast is your website? With all the factors involved, this can be a tricky question to answer. Vertain Software has a free website speed test that lets you see just how fast your site is from an ideal connection. If your page takes more than 6 seconds to load on this test, you should be concerned. If it takes longer than the 13 seconds the test is limited to, you have some serious problems.

And where exactly does a website from 10T Web Design check in? In two tests, our main page checked in a 1.30 and 1.62 seconds. To put that into prospective, the super-speedy Google home page loads in about 1.1 seconds, and the only somewhat slower Facebook home page loads in about 1.7.

Not too shabby.
